Justin Chaz Fuller was executed in Huntsville on Thursday night. He was pronounced dead at 6:18 p.m.
Fuller, who was 18 at the time of the capital murder, would have turned 28 next Tuesday. A Smith County jury sentenced him to death for the April 21, 1997 abduction, robbery and murder of Donald Harrison Whittington III, 21.
Fuller was the 19th person executed by the state of Texas this year, the 38th in the USA and the 1042nd overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
3 others convicted in the case are serving long prison terms. Samhermundre Wideman and Elaine Hays have life sentences. Wideman was 21 when arrested and Hays 25. Brent Bates Chandler, 19 at the time of the killing, accepted 25 years and testified against Fuller.
