Robert Alan Shields, who was 19 when he was arrested for fatally stabbing a woman at her home, was executed this evening inside the Huntsville "Walls" Unit.
A Galveston County jury condemned him for the Sept. 21, 1994 killing of Paula Stiner, 27.
He was pronounced dead at 6:15 p.m.
Shields becomes the 12th condemned inmate to be put to death this year in Texas and the 36th in the USA.
