KENYA. TWO MEN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR ROBBERY AND MURDER

a Nairobi court sentenced Godown Onyango and George Mungai to death by hanging for violently robbing a military officer and killing him.
Also sentenced with the two was Bernard Ouma, an engineering student from the University of Nairobi, who was jailed for 5 years for illegal possession of firearms.
Trial magistrate Margaret Muigai ruled that Ouma was caught with firearms after the incident. The firearms were found under a bed in Ouma’s room at the University of Nairobi. Second hand clothes dealers Onyango and Mungai were convicted of violently robbing Major Hudson Wafula of three thousand shillings on May 13, 2003 at Akiba estate, Langata, Kenya. 
Two others accused in the case, David Mutuyi and Victor Mwendwa were acquitted for lack of evidence.
