Kevin Dean Young, 32, black, was executed by lethal injection. He had been convicted of killing Dennis Hepler, 35, white, on August 1988. He was the first and only person to be put to death in the State during the year, the 25th since the State resumed executions in 1985. He was the 72nd to be put to death in the U.S. during the year and No 670 since the death penalty was re-introduced in 1976.
