Kofri Mustafar, 26, an unemployed man was sentenced to death in Kuantan after being guilty of murdering Jemilah Idris, 36, a woman who refused to let him marry her daughter, on July 23, 1999.
In meting out the sentence, High Court Judge Datuk Tengku Baharuddin Shah Tengku Mahmud Shah said evidence suggesting that the accused was possibly mentally deranged was not plausible as the law required concrete proof in order for the accused to escape the murder charge.
Kofri had threatened Jemilah and her family for rejecting his proposition to marry her daughter on several occasions. He killed Jemilah with a metal pipe and then abducted her daughter and raped her. The daughter was freed two days later.
