in Pakistan, the Lahore high court dismissed the petition filed by Rana Ilamuddin Ghazi contending that the President of Pakistan could not commute the death sentence of Indian national Sarabjit Singh into life imprisonment. A resident of Bhikhiwind, Singh inadvertently crossed over to Pakistan in an inebriated condition. He was arrested by Pakistan police and charged him for serial bomb blasts killing 14 persons in 1990. Both the high court and the Supreme Court rejected his appeals against his death sentence.
