Lawrence Colwell Jr

Lawrence Colwell Jr. was executed by injection in the Nevada State Prison after refusing to seek a stay from a federal judge - who had said he would stop the execution if Colwell asked. Colwell, 35, died at 9:08 p.m. Colwell was executed for robbing and strangling Frank Rosenstock, 76, in march 1994. Colwell's girlfriend, Merrilee Paul, later pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to life in prison. Colwell becomes the 1st Nevada condemned inmate to be put to death this year and the 20th this year in the USA.
