MALAYSIA. THAI BUSINESSMEN GET DEATH SENTENCE

two Thai businessmen were sentenced to death by a High Court in Malaysia for trafficking in cannabis in 2002.
Justice Mohtarudin Baki sentenced Masoh Daloh, 35, and Romuelee Yakoh, 46, for trafficking in 34,942gm of cannabis at the Taman Tasik Titiwangsa's carpark at 12.10am on Feb 20, 2002. The judge said that a police officer, acting on a tip-off, saw both accused in a car at the car park that day. The police officer checked the car and found four compressed slabs of drugs on the back seat of the car, 13 slabs at the back seat's legroom and 17 slabs in a speaker.
The judge said that the seized 34 compressed slabs of drugs were sent to a chemist in Petaling Jaya for analysis that confirmed it as cannabis. Justice Mohtarudin said he convicted both under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and imposed the mandatory death sentence.
