a 29 year old factory van driver was sentenced to death by hanging after a High Court in Johor Baru, Malaysia, convicted him of murder. P. Chandran was found guilty of murdering K. Muthuraman Krishnasamy, 36, in front of the victim's house in Taman Puteri Wangsa, Ulu Tiram at about 8.15pm on July 19, 2003. He was accused of slashing the victim with a parang (machete), along with about 11 others who are still at large, after a disagreement over a CD player. Post-mortem results revealed that the victim had suffered 24 slash wounds. High Court Justice Datuk Syed Ahmad Helmi Syed Ahmad ruled that the prosecution was able to prove that the accused had committed the offence beyond a shadow of a doubt.
