MALAYSIA: THREE SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING

Ghazalee Kassim and two other unidentified men were convicted and sentenced to death for trafficking 50kg of cannabis. The trial commenced on April 10, 2002 in the Johor Baru High Court in Malaysia, and on July 2, the judge reserved his judgement on whether to call for their defence. It was four years later, on Dec 18, 2006, that the judge ruled that the prosecution had succeeded in making out a prima facie case. Two days later Ghazalee lodged an appeal through his council Hisyam Teh Poh Teik.
