families of Mohamed Awang, 48, from Tanah Merah, and Thai national Rohing, 42, sobbed as High Court judge Datuk Sulaiman Daud sentenced them to death for trafficking cannabis. The two had been jointly charged under Malaysia’s Dangerous Drugs Act for attempting to sell more than 14kg of the herb. The court also sentenced the defendants to three years jail each on another charge of trafficking in 7.94g of heroin. Both offences took place on June 4, 2003.
