Michael Passaro, 40, was pronounced dead at 6:15 p.m. The inmate could have stopped his execution any time because he has never appealed his sentence. It was just 25 months after he pleaded guilty to murdering his daughter 4 years ago.
In the midst of a custody dispute, Passaro parked the family minivan in front of his estranged wife's condominium, doused the inside with gasoline and set it on fire with their 2-year-old daughter, Maggie, strapped in her car seat.
Passaro planned to die in the blaze, too, but jumped from the van when it exploded.
