Micheal D. Roberts, 41, black, was put to death by lethal injection in Oklahoma State Penitentiary. He was pronounced dead at 00;21. He had been convicted of killing an 80 year old, white woman, Lula Mae Brooks on 16th January 1988, whilst committing a robbery in her apartment. He was the third person to be executed in the State during the year, the 22nd since the State resumed executions in 1990. He was the 13th to be executed in the U.S. during the year and No 611 since the death penalty was re-introduced in 1976.
