Mijan Mohamed Deros, a 57 year old Malaysian national, was sentenced to death by the High Court for trafficking in 527.5gm of cannabis on 18 October 2001. In his judgment, Justice Datuk Sulaiman Daud said that the defence failed to raise a reasonable doubt on the prosecution's case. "Mijan's evidence left many questions unanswered and he lacked credibility," he said.
