Minister Yisrael Katz proposed to legislate a law that would impose the death sentence on any Israeli citizen assisting in the murder of other Israelis as part of his support for an enemy country or a terrorist organization. Katz said he would submit a draft bill to this effect to the cabinet secretariat within the next few days so that it may be approved by the cabinet in its next session. He further proposed that the law provide for the demolition of the home of those convicted of murder, the sale of their assets and the transfer of the proceeds to the families of the victims. On hearing of minister Katz'a proposal, Mujahid Awda, head of the Kfar Kanna council, said: "We live in a democratic state and the death sentence is unacceptable here".
