Myanmar was a cosponsor of the amendments presented by Egypt (A/C.3/54/L.31 and L.32) to the resolution for a moratorium on executions presented by the European Union at the 54th UN General Assembly (A/C.3/54/L.8/Rev.1). The Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial, Summary or Arbitrary Executions has received a large number of reports of alleged killings in the country (E/CN.4/1999/39/Add.1).
