Naser Zarafshan, lawyer for the families of the nationalists Dariush and Parvaneh Foruhar and spokesman for the writer Mohammad Puyandeh, stated that "The relatives oppose the death sentence because they do not seek revenge." Ahmad Bashiri, representing the families of the fourth victim, the writer Mohammad Mokhtari, said that: "The families oppose the death penalty as well as a jail sentence." Bashiri said that the families could save those sentenced to death, but that they would not put forward appeals.
