National Defense Minister Sabahattin Cakmakoglu said that his office would take up the death sentence handed down to terrorist leader Abdullah Ocalan one more time. Speaking to reporters during his visit to Kayseri, Cakmakoglu said that he attached a greater importance to the feelings and judgement of the Turkish public opininon, than he did to the demands of the European Union. "We first have to consider what our laws, what our people demand, because it is no one but us, who have given thousands of innocent people victim to the hands of the terror organisation. I think the planned abolishment of the death penalty in Turkey should not be discussed too frequently, especially when the Ocalan case still sits at the top of Turkey's agenda," Cakmakoglu said.
