Nationalist Action Party (MHP) applied to the Constitutional Court requesting the annulment of six articles of the EU Adjustment Law and asking the court to stop their enforcement. In regards to the amendments State Minister Faruk Bal (MHP) said "the first of them is the provision that lifts death penalty including terrorist crimes_. although there is not any change in Turkey related with terrorism threat after nine months have passed, death sentence was abolished with the law No 4,771 in a way it covered terrorist crimes. In the end of evaluations and examinations of the MHP, it has been seen that this amendment was against the preamble of the Constitution and its third, fourth, fifth, 17th, 38th and 87th articles."
