Ngo Van Da, a 27 year old unemployed man, was sentenced to death in Vietnam for killing his brother-in-law and the man's two children after he thought they were encouraging his wife to file for divorce. Da carried out the revenge attack on April 8, sneaking into the home of his wife's brother Nguyen Huong in the central province of Dak Lak. Finding the family asleep he stabbed Huong, his wife, their five-year-old son and three-year-old daughter. Huong's wife suffered serious injuries but did not die. Da was arrested the same evening.
