Nguyen Van Han, a 21-year-old unemployed man, was sentenced to death for killing a man who tried to prevent him from robbing a woman of her jewelry. The People's Court in southern Ho Chi Minh City found Han guilty of stabbing to death Nguyen Duc Tuan in February 2004. Han was arrested days after the murder in Thu Duc district.
