On April 13, 11 people were publicly executed in Mbuji-Mayi, the diamond-rich capital of the Oriental Kasai Province. The Kabila Government indicated that the 11 people had been involved in armed robberies. Radio Goma charged that they were just innocent people who were executed for their alleged sympathy to the advancing Congolese rebels.
