On August 14, Justice Kang Hwee Gee condemned M

On August 14, Justice Kang Hwee Gee condemned M. Rajendran, 32, a former policeman, to hang for murdering jeweler S. Veeramah, 49, her son N. Sathyah, 16, and Indonesian maid Suriyah, 36, at their house in Bercham between March 12 and 13, 1998. Rajendran, 32, was charged together with debt collector G. Krishnan Rao and goldsmith K. Kumaresan with the murders. On August 4, Rajendran's brother-in-law G. Krishnan Rao, 21, was also sentenced to death but the third accused, goldsmith K. Kumaresan, 21, was acquitted.
