On December 27, 5 men were executed in the northeastern city of Shenyang, in Liaoning Province, after the provincial high court upheld their death sentences for armed robberies that resulted in the deaths of 16 people. The Wenzhou Intermediate Court, in eastern Zhejiang province, sentenced Wang Shusheng to death and fined him 1.1 million yuan (HK$974) for knifing and then dousing Zheng Shifen with a bucket of acid, causing third degree burns to almost one third of her body.
