On December 3, Lin Guoti, former director of the Machinery Industry Bureau of Hunan Province, was sentenced to death following his conviction on charges of bribery. According to the judgment of the first ruling, Lin Guoti colluded with his son and wife in accepting total bribe payments of 5.27m yuan ($636,473) in the years from 1992 to 1998, when he served as bureau director.
