On December 9, 1998, another two writers, Mohammad Mokhtari and Mohammad Ja'afar Pouyandeh, activists belonging to the Iranian writers association "Kanoon-e-Nevisandegan," were found dead on the edge of a road in Tehran. Both bodies bore strangulation marks. The two men were part of a group of six writers questioned in October 1998 by the "Revolutionary" Court of Tehran, on charges of refounding the disbanded writers' association. During this same period, two other writers, Pirouz Davani and Rostam Hamedani, mysteriously disappeared.
