On July 23, the Resident High Court Judge, Justice P.K.K. Onega sentenced to death Yunus Samanya, 23, a native healer, Francis Muwanga, 24, and his wife, Gloria Nagadya, 21, for the April ritual murder of a girl, Shamim Muhamad, in Mukono. After the sentence was pronounced, the convicts were handcuffed and led to a waiting lorry en route to Luzira. The crowd yelled at the convicts as armed police kept a watchful eye.
