On June 4, Dole Chadee, 47, was hanged in the Royal jail in Port of Spain at 6.00 am for the brutal 1994 quadruple murder of Deo Baboolal, his wife, Rookmin, and their two children at their home in Williamsville in central Trinidad. Chadee was one of Trinidad and Tobago's most notorious criminals. A former drug baron made rich by the cocaine traffic from Latin America to the United States, he was the feared leader of a gang of 9 convicted in September 1996 for the multiple murder. This was the first hanging in 5 years, and a large crowd gathered outside the jail for news of it. The same day a second convict, Ramkalawan Singh was hanged at 7.27 am, and a third, Joey Ramiah, died at 8.30 am.
