On May 30, the Permanent Military Court, headed by Brig. Gen. Mahir Safi al-Din and in the presence of the Public Prosecutor's representative, Judge Joseph Mi'mari, issued a death verdict on the case involving members of the network formed by the Lebanese Forces (dissolved military wing of the Phalangist Party). The accused were charged with forming a squad to attack people and property and of carrying out acts of terrorism using explosives and incendiary devices, which resulted in the death of several people. They were also charged with murdering a chauffeur and attempting to murder politicians and military personnel and of trying to contact the enemy and agents of the enemy, as well as of trading in weapons and drugs. In addition, they were charged with not informing the authorities about a crime and of attempting to assassinate former Minister Elie Hubayqah, Interior Minister Michel al-Murr and Maj. Gen. Ghazi Kan'an, head of the Security and Intelligence Unit attached to the Arab Syrian forces in Lebanon. Of the accused, Fadi Ni'mah Shahhud, Khalil Sakhr al-Naddaf, Abbud Antoine Sawaya and Ni'matallah Munir Mussalim received the death sentence in absentia.
