On April 2, Hiwat Shenkuta Shine, a 24-year-old Ethiopian woman confessed to killing her newborn baby by throwing him from a 7th-floor apartment in Sidon at the end of March. She may face the death sentence. Ms. Shine said that she hid the fact that she was pregnant from her employers when she arrived in the country, because she feared they would fire her.
