On November 15, the second criminal bench of the Federal High Court sentenced second Lt. Kebede Kibret, who was accused of involvement in the genocide during the "Red Terror" campaign, to death. Kebede, who received the death penalty in absentia, was the administrator of Yeju Awraja in the former Welo Province. The court said it found Kebede guilty of ordering the death of 17 people whom he alleged to be members of the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Party, as well as anti-revolution and anti-people. The court said the verdict would be carried out after the head of the state approved it. It ordered pertinent authorities to track down the culprit and present him to the court for the sentence to be carried out.
