On October 16, the execution of Majid Mehrparvar, a gang leader accused of killing at least 3 truck drivers, was reported in Tehran. Referring to the execution, the newspaper Ghods wrote that: "On the basis of Islamic law and on request of the victims' relatives, the court ordered one of Mehrparvar's eyes to be removed prior to the execution," as he acted as lookout before the truck-drivers were robbed. The newspaper also reported the hanging of 3 of his accomplices: Javad Mohamadzadeh, 32 years, Mahmoud Biabani, 27 years and his twin brother Hamid Reza Biabani.
