On October 26, Saifuddin Haji Solayman was executed in public at the Herat sports stadium, after the sentence was passed by all three court instances - the Court of First Instance, the Court of Litigation of Herat Province and the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court - and this verdict was endorsed by Mullah Mohammad Omar Mojahed, spiritual leader of the Taliban. He was convicted for killing Abdullah Sher Mohammad and was punished by the heir of the murdered man. At a meeting held on this occasion at the Herat stadium, Abdul Wahed Halimi, the acting head of the (primary) court of Herat Province; Mahbubuallah Labib, the defense lawyer; and Mowlawi Mohammad Sharif, the head of the Radio Voice of Shari'a in Herat, spoke in detail about the importance and advantages of applying Shari'a laws for preventing crime and for reforming the social structure, and explained the advantages of the Shari'a.
