30 January 2018: the Lieutenant-Colonel, Ndoyipiwa Juna of the armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, was sentenced to capital punishment and deprivation of rank with total degradation, following a judgment delivered by the Katanga military court, serving in Lubumbashi, at the request of the public Prosecutor and the civil party Patrick Bailey Kabir.
He was accused of criminal association, of having orchestrated several armed robberies, murder, illegal possession of weapons and attempted murder in the town of Likasi. The prosecution had arrested 11 bandits for this purpose but, after trial, only three persons were sentenced to death.
