Manzoor Ahmad and his son Muhammad Ishaq, Ghulam Mustafa also known as Papoo, Muhammad Ilyas, Muhammad Anwar and Javed Obal, all members of the same family, were due to be executed in prison within the day’s end for shooting three of their relatives to death in a brutal honour killing at a village near Faisalabad.
They were originally due to be hanged on February 8. Amnesty International reported that their only hope rested in the hands of President General Pervez Musharraf who had the constitutional power to grant them clemency. It was reported that their final pleas for mercy had been rejected.
