PAKISTAN: FIVE MORE DEATH ROW PRISONERS EXECUTED IN LAHORE AND RAWALPINDI

Five murder convicts were executed in two jails across Punjab.
Nadeem Shahzad, Samar Khan and Riaz Yousuf were hanged in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail. Shahzad and Khan were sentenced to death for the kidnapping and murder of a young child in 1998, while Riaz Yousuf was executed for the murder of two persons in the Shalimar area of Lahore.
Meanwhile, murder convicts Muhammad Ashraf and Zafar Iqbal were hanged in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail. Both were sentenced to death for the murder of two persons in separate cases, with the former being convicted in 2000 and the latter in 2002.
Since the de facto ban on capital punishment ended on 17 December 2014, at least 201 people, including 25 convicted terrorists, have been executed across the country.
