PAKISTAN: INMATE ESCAPES THE GALLOWS SIXTEEN TIMES

the execution of Jalal Morejo in Pakistan is scheduled for July 14, 2011, after the Naushehro Feroz additional district and sessions judge issued the black warrant. Jalal's 16 previous scheduled executions were stayed by government changes or presidential interventions. The resident of Chanari village in Naushero Feroz, allegedly killed Haji Muhammad Haroon Morejo to avenge a relative's murder in 1997. On April 7, 2000, the Naushero Feroz district and sessions court sentenced him to death.
