Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice (CJ) Khawaja Muhammad Sharif took suo motu notice of a condemned prisoner, Aftab Masih, who has been on death row for the past 16 years because his appeal has not been heard. The CJ has sought a response from Additional Advocate General Muhammad Hanif Khatana by May 11 as to why the convict’s appeal was not heard. The trial court awarded the death sentence to Aftab in 1993, the three judges being a Supreme Court judge and two local High Court judges.
