Tajamal Abbas, 24, resident of Sheikhupura, Pakistan, was executed for murder at Kotlakhpat Jail at 4:30am in the presence of the victim’s father and uncle. Abbas was convicted of kidnapping Ali Haider of the same locality in 1999 and demanding a ransom of one million rupees. After his arrest, Abbas told authorities that he shot Haider and threw his body in a drain because he feared the boy would be able to identify him. An anti-terrorism convicted him of the crime and gave him the death sentence.
In his will, Abbas asked his family not to take revenge on Haider’s father who refused to pardon him and spare his life.
