PAKISTAN: SEVEN DEATH ROW CONVICTS HANGED

At least seven death-row inmates convicted of murder were executed in different jails.
Zaman alias Zamani was executed in Multan’s Central Jail. He was convicted of murdering former Punjab chief minister Ghulam Haider Wyne during an election rally in September 1993. Wyne was a Pakistan Muslim League (PML) leader who rose to the position of Punjab chief minister in 1990.
Meanwhile, two prisoners were hanged in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail. Muhammad Zareen was accused of killing two brothers in Ghora Gali area of Rawalpindi whereas Rab Nawaz was found guilty of murdering a man in Royal Artillery Bazaar in the garrison city.
Furthermore, two brothers – Ghulam Akbar and Hazoor Bakhsh – were executed in Dera Ghazi Khan's Central Jail for murdering two men over petty dispute in 1996.
Separately, murder convict Abdul Sami (Anwar Shamim) was hanged in Lahore's Kot Lakhpat jail. He was found guilty of killing a man over a petty dispute.
Meanwhile, death-row prisoner Muhammad Hassan, convicted of killing a woman and her son 15 years ago, was hanged in Bahawalpur’s New Central Jail.
Since the de facto ban on capital punishment ended on 17 December 2014, at least 263 people, including twenty-five convicted terrorists, have been executed in Pakistan.
