PNG Acting Assistant Commissioner Giossi Labi called for the Government to ensure the death penalty was imposed on serious murder cases. Labi, upset at the murder of leading businessman Russell Green in Lae the night before, said it was time for the death penalty to be dealt out to criminals.
“The death penalty needs to be imposed,” Labi said.
“We say we are a Christian country but we have lost so many good people and we will lose more.
“It has to stop somewhere!
“They talk repent, reform . . . and then they go out and do it again”, the veteran policeman said.
