Philippine National Police chief Leandro Mendoza considers "too high" the 99 grams of shabu that the Senate has proposed as the minimum number for imposing the death penalty on anyone caught in possession of the drug.
Mendoza said the PNP has instead proposed that anyone caught with 15 grams of shabu should be punished with the lethal injection.
Special drug court judge Adoracion Avisado, who handles all drug cases in Davao City, also welcomed the passage of the bill in the Senate.
Avisado said the passage of the bill was a good development, but the 99 grams should be reduced to 30 grams, which she said was the usual volume found in the drug cases brought to her court.
