Portugal's Supreme Court delayed ruling on an appeal against extradition filed by Algerian national Sid Ahmed Rezala, aged 20, accused of killing three women in France, two of them onboard trains. The delay was due to the Algerian's defence team presenting new elements that had to be investigated by the prosecution. Rezala, arrested by the Lisbon police in January, appealed against a request for extradition to face trial in France. Under Portuguese law, requests for extradition to countries that impose the death penalty or prison terms of more than Portugal's maximum sentence of 30 years can be turned down.
