Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, as part of his declared "war on drugs," said he was considering amending related regulations to expedite the execution process for convicted drug traffickers. Thaksin said he would like to see the entire execution process completed within 60 days of the final court decision. He said he even wished to see all 140 of the convicted drug traffickers now on death row being shot on a daily basis, and news coverage of the executions to be televised.
