QATAR. 1994 SHARIAH COURT DEATH VERDICT TO BE CARRIED OUT

a Doha criminal court, in Qatar, ordered to carry out a death sentence that was issued by a Shariah court against a Yemeni man some 13 years ago.
The 56-year-old Yemeni man was found guilty of stabbing to death a compatriot on October 1, 1993 in Doha, a result of “long-standing animosity” between the two. The new order was given after the two sons of the victim refused to accept blood money and opted for carrying out the death sentence issued in mid-1994. According to the Shariah, all the children of a murder victim should be above 16 to decide on the killer’s fate. The 56-year-old murderer was convicted on March 23, 1994, by the Shariah court and the death penalty was suspended until both the sons turned 16.
