Regular invitations of a Belarussian National Assembly delegation to sessions of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) show that the Belarussian parliament's status in this organization could be restored, the head of the Belarussian Foreign Ministry's information department Pavel Latushko told a news briefing at the Foreign Ministry. The Belarussian Foreign Ministry hopes that the status of the Belarussian parliament will shortly be "legally confirmed," he said.Reagarding the terms on which Belarus could be admitted to the Council of Europe put forward by its Council of Ministers, particularly a moratorium on the death penalty, "the Foreign Ministry is willing to discuss them," Latushko said.A delegation of the Belarussian parliament led by its Deputy Chairman Vladimir Konoplyov was taking part in the PACE session underway in Strasbourg.
