Richard Foster, 47, white, was put to death by lethal injection. Foster had been convicted of killing Gary Micheal Cox, a white shop owner, during a robbery committed on 5th April 1984. He was the 17th person to be executed in the State during the year, No 216 since the State resumed executions in 1974. He was the 36th to be executed in the U.S. during the year and No 634 since the death penalty was re-introduced in 1976.
