Nurpashi Kulayev, the sole surviving member of the group that seized Beslan school No. 1 in September 2004, deserves the death penalty, North Ossetian leader Taimuraz Mamsurov said.
"He deserves to be executed and his guilt, in my opinion, has been proven," Mamsurov said in an interview.
"Even if he had not shot, the fact that hostages were held for three days in a stuffy hall without food and drink is cruel," the North Ossetian leader said. Representative of the public prosecution Russian Deputy Prosecutor General Nikolai Shepel had asked the court to sentence Kulayev to death.
