Russian President Vladimir Putin has confirmed his stance on the use of capital punishment in Russia and noted that he favoured its abolition. The Russian head of state said as much during his meeting in the Kremlin] evening with leader of the Union of Right Forces Boris Nemtsov.
According to Nemtsov, the head of state in this situation "does not want to pressure the Duma and hopes that the legislators will sort out things by themselves".
