Senator Robert Barbers wants smugglers classified as "economic saboteurs" and meted out the death penalty
Senator Robert Barbers wants smugglers classified as "economic saboteurs" and meted out the death penalty.
The Surigao senator filed Senate Bill 2254 which seeks to eradicate smuggling in the country, stressing there is an "urgent need" to address the problem because of the "growing audacity" of smugglers who connive with Customs officials in "perpetrating the crime."
Under the proposed measure, any government official or employee who takes part in smuggling will be meted out the death penalty.
